Our University Approved as the Host of Shijiazhuang Key Laboratory for Carbon Monitoring and High-value Utilization
Release time:2026-05-27 09:43:10stamp
Recently, the Shijiazhuang Key Laboratory for Carbon Monitoring and High-value Utilization, jointly applied for and led by the University's Carbon Neutrality Research Center, has been officially approved. This marks another major breakthrough in the construction of our university’s scientific research platforms and injects new impetus into the green and low-carbon development of the provincial capital.
Aligned with China’s national Dual Carbon strategy, the laboratory focuses on three core research areas: precise carbon emission monitoring, high-value carbon conversion and utilization, and carbon sequestration and sink enhancement of ecosystems. It prioritizes applied basic research and research on key generic technologies, targeting practical difficulties in the low-carbon transformation of Shijiazhuang’s pillar industries including iron and steel, cement, chemical engineering and agriculture. The laboratory strives to tackle scientific challenges and barriers restricting the commercialization of research achievements in the course of green upgrading. It aims to build a high-end think tank supporting regional Dual Carbon decision-making, an innovation hub for carbon utilization technologies, and a training base for high-level application-oriented low-carbon talents, so as to steadily strengthen its capacity to serve local industrial development.
Adhering to the school-running philosophy of local orientation, application focus and international vision in recent years, the university has closely responded to the development needs of Shijiazhuang’s pillar industries and continuously advanced discipline and research platform development. To date, four municipal key laboratories have been approved here, including the Shijiazhuang Key Laboratory for Medicinal Polymer Materials.
The latest approval is a vital move for the university to refine disciplinary characteristics, concentrate efforts on the green and low-carbon sector, promote interdisciplinary integration and enhance scientific and technological innovation capacity. It also demonstrates the steady growth of the university’s research strength and capability to serve local development. The university will further optimize research teams and elevate applied research capabilities, providing targeted decision-making support and systematic solutions for the green and low-carbon development of Shijiazhuang and Hebei Province, and fueling high-quality economic and social development across the region.
